Plesiosaurs were a family of marine reptiles from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Widespread, they were most succesful around Europe.

Like most marine reptiles, most plesiosaurs beached themselves in order to give birth.

Conventional plesiosaursEdit

Regular, long-necked plesiosaurs included the Jurassic Cryptoclidus, and the Cretaceous Elasmosaurus.


Pliosaurs were similar to regular plesiosaurs, but had massive heads and short necks - they were also voracious predators. The pliosaurs included Liopleurodon and an unidentified species.
